Last Week’s Beers: Blah Blah Blah IPA, Galaxy Dust, Madarina, and more

Track 7 Mo’Suka – Somewhat overwhelming grapefruit hop flavor. Another solid beer from Track 7 and the rising Sacramento craft beer scene, but the previously reviewed Track 7 beers are even better.  Via Spikes.

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin – I’m not opposed to pumpkin beers, but I’m not crazy about all the nutmeg and other spices that get added. This suffered from too much of those spices, but was still drinkable. Not great, just drinkable.

Crispin The Saint – Apple cider with maple. Nice combo.

Barebottle Galaxy Dust – I think this was my favorite of the week. With one sip I’d get tropical fruit, and then the next sip I’d get juicy peaches. This is one of the most complex IPAs I’ve had, but not over the top bitter. So good! I’ll be keeping an eye out for more beers from Barebottle! Via Burgers & Brew Chico.

New Glory Raspberry Berliner Weisse – Nice raspberry flavor. I would prefer a bit more wheat malt flavor, but this is a great beer from New Glory. Via Burgers & Brew Chico.

Fieldwork Mandarina – This is a contender w/ the Galaxy Dust for this week’s favorite. A really interesting blend of tart farmhouse flavor, mandarins, and hop bitterness. The combination of sour and bitter is reminiscent of New Belgium’s Le Terroir, but with big mandarin flavor thrown in. Via Burgers & Brew Chico.

21st Amendment Blah Blah Blah IPA – A very nice IPA with citrus hops up front and really nice clean malt finish. Check out BeerSelfie.com soon for a more thorough review and more photos.

New Glory Greenergy – Lots of citrus and tropical fruit hops. Another good beer from New Glory. Via Burgers & Brew Chico.

Miners Alley Crazy Ass IPA – We had dinner at this brewery and restaurant in Oroville, California. This is one of a few breweries in the small city of Oroville, and none of them are great. Miners Alley has the best atmosphere of the bunch and they have a nice guest tap lineup to compliment their own brews. Crazy Ass IPA was totally drinkable but the hops were kinda soapy, and there was a buttery flavor in the finish. Via Miners Alley.

Miners Alley Black Bart Chocolate Porter – Not terrible, but if this were my homebrew I’d keep working at it. Via Miners Alley.

Miners Alley Gringo Suave – Considering the off flavors in the other beers I was surprised at how well they pulled off this lager. Lots of corn in the flavor, but that’s to style for a Mexican Lager. This was clean and easy drinking. Via Miners Alley.

Miners Alley Pumpkin Patch – This was probably my favorite that we tried from Miners Alley, but I only had a sample. Nice malty pumpkin flavor without too much of the pumpkin spice nonsense. A bit boozy, but nicely balanced. Via Miners Alley.
