Yesterday I drove to Sacramento then flew to Denver, Colorado to attend the Great American Beer Festival.
I’m attending the Thursday, Friday, and the earlier Saturday session. Saturday evening I’m heading to Tavour‘s Bottle Fest VIP at First Draft Saturday night.
After arriving in Denver and taking the train/bus to my hotel I noticed CO-Brew homebrew shop right across the street. I stopped in for a dinner recommendation and they pointed me to Yard House.
After a delicious bacon cheese burger and an Upslope Brown Ale it was time to find a local brewery. A short walk brought me to Jagged Mountain Brewing where I enjoyed a Peach Cobbler Imperial Peach Amber Ale and caught the start of the Giants wildcard game against the Mets.
Next stop was Great Divide Brewing. All the beers looked amazing here! I tried their Nadia Kali Hibiscus Saison, Oatmeal Yeti Stout, and 21st Anniversary Sour.
The last stop of the night was Stoney’s to catch the end of the Giants game. I enjoyed a New Belgium Le Terroir while watching Madison Bumgarner finish off the Mets with a little help from Conor Gillaspie.
All the beers were good. I’d pick the Le Terroir as the standout. It really bursted with a unique combination of sour and hop flavor.
Honestly I’m feeling a little rough today, so aside from venturing out for breakfast I’ve mostly been relaxing. Now it’s about time to rally and head to day of 1 of GABF!
