OK, just kidding. This is obviously very subjective and I had a really hard time narrowing the list down to ten IPAs. Even within one beer style tastes vary wildly. Throw in Imperial IPAs, Black IPAs, etc. and it gets even crazier. My list is fairly California centric since I live in California and don’t really travel much. California is also just really good at IPAs. The American IPA style really originated here. I tried to keep it fairly accessible, so no Pliney the Youger or anything too rare. So, without further ado here are my top ten IPAs:
- Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale
- Uinta Dubhe Imperial Black IPA
- Lost Coast Indica IPA
- Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale
- Russian River Pliney the Elder
- Bell’s Two Hearted Ale
- Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA
- Rubicon IPA
- Bear Republic Racer 5
- Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
Honorable mention (cause they’re kinda rare, or I just wanted to include them ’cause it’s my blog and I do what I want): Sierra Nevada Estate, Firestone Double Jack, Triple Rock IPAX, Moylan’s Hopsickle Imperial IPA, Green Flash Palate Wrecker, Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale, Ninkasi Total Domination, Ballast Point Sculpin, Russian River Blind Pig
Happy IPA Day!
